Revisiting The Twilight Zone: S3 E1

Season 3:  Episode 1:  Two

Is this a Twilight Zone episode or just a piece on two enemies trying to find common ground? The story itself works OK, with two people from opposite sides of a completed war trying to decide if they can now put their brevities aside and learn to live with each other. Elizabeth Montgomery plays the female lead, in the years before "Bewitched" became her best known role, while Charlie Bronson plays the male lead, with all the charisma... well, he plays it as he played most roles in the future. As a two-person, one scene play with little dialogue it plays fine on the screen.

But is this really what you would consider a Twilight Zone episode? There's no twist as such, and nothing to suggest any part of this has 'journeys' to the Zone itself. It's a post-apocalyptic story that starts with a tense stand off and finishes with a happy ending. A somewhat strange lead off for series three.

Rating:  Samantha Stevens meets Paul Kersey.   2.5/5
