Songs Of My Life #12.
This could well have been the first song that I heard that made me want to learn to play the guitar. Pity I never followed through with that, but it's the riff in this song that immediately caught my ear, not the fact that Rick Springfield was an Australian who was a heartthrob on an American series called General Hospital at the time. The guitar riff is simple but effective, as is Rick's vocals. It's easy to sing along with, and of course all teenage boys could relate to it sooner or later. Once again it is another song that could be converted to a heavier song with ease and played live in the current day. If only I'd followed through with learning the guitar, that is...
