"Lincoln" Enjoyable and Informative

Helen and I sat down and watched "Lincoln" last night, directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, and starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lewis. The fact that this film is not released at Australian cinemas for another 2-3 weeks was also a binus for us in our little living room.

The film focuses on the final few months of Lincoln's life, as he tries to find a way to end the American Civil War, and also to get the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution passed into law.

Excellent performances from Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, James Spader and Tommy Lee Jones make this great viewing, and has made me realise how little I know about this stage of American history. i shall be going to he library in the coming weeks to rectify this situation.
