World War Z - What a Dud!

This evening I finally got around to watching World War Z, the zombie movie starring Brad Pitt. I read the book earlier this year, and really enjoyed it, the way it was written and the detail that went into it. Helen was out with Maddi at the DDC concert in Wollongong, so once the other two were in bed I had the TV to myself!

Now, I knew the movie had taken 'liberties' with the book. In fact, it had basically thrown out everything from the book, and retained a semblance of the idea, and then turned it into this Hollywood visual extravaganza. And the first ten minute scene, in the streets of Philadelphia, is visually spectacular, there is no denying it. but where does it go from here?
In the end, I was just bored. It had no real suspense, just a lot of different scenes thrown together and trying to make a plot out of them.
But the biggest problem I had with the whole concept was the zombies themselves. These zombies didn't just rise from the dead, and shuffle their way endlessly towards their prey. These zombies reanimated instantaneously after they were bitten, and then in a frenzy started attacking -and RUNNING at full pelt! I mean - ZOMBIES DO NOT RUN! They may be relentless, but at a walking pace, not a trot or a sprint.

It lost me, and I was fast forwarding through this to the conclusion after an hour, which I rarely do in movies. So it was a real disappointment. Wasted a couple of hours of free viewing time that I could have used to better my advantage.
